Nature Scavenger Hunt

By Kris Thomason August 21, 2013

The weather is still warm and all the kids want to do is be outside! Mix it up a little bit next time and invite them to do a Nature Scavenger Hunt! I saw this idea in Parents magazine and loved it! It is so easy to set up - just print out a list for each kid and let them go! They get exercise running around trying to find everything, they learn to work together by helping each other find things, and they practice reading! Best of all, its a free activity!

You can use the list below or make changes as you wish. There are loads of list ideas online. I have seen different variations of the scavenger hunt such as: finding things in every color, scavenger hunt Bingo, and I Spy. The kids can either just check the items found off a list or they can bring back their items. Some even used egg cartons to hold their items. So cute!

When the kids have found everything on the list, I let them pick a prize from a bin of small toys. Have fun and be creative!!
